BETWEEN THE CRACKS OF HISTORY: ARCHIVING WOMEN'S STRUGGLES IN ALGERIA

Since gaining independence, Algeria has undergone numerous social and political transformations. However many of the figures behind these movements have been relegated to historic obscurity, with Algerian women a major demographic to be overlooked.The 2019 mobilisations in Algeria, known as the Hirak Movement, which led to the resignation of former president Abdelaziz Bouteflika, gave hope to the younger generations who took to the streets for the reconstruction of a more a more democratic society and the dismantling of the military regime.
