LIBERIA: SENATE, WARLORD ENDORSE ESTABLISHMENT OF WAR CRIMES COURT

Liberia has taken a step forward to end impunity for civil war atrocities after the Senate endorsed a joint resolution seeking the establishment of a UN-backed Special War Crimes Court. Liberia’s Senate has endorsed a joint resolution calling for the prosecution of individuals responsible for the more than a decade-long civil war and looting of the country’s resources from 1989 to 2003.
